Basketball Recap: Pace Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Pace won the last time they faced Porter and things went their way on Friday too. The Pace Vikings strolled past the Porter Cowboys with points to spare, taking the game 33-19. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Vikings.

Pace was led to victory by Kayla Cavazos and Bre Nelson. Cavazos went 5 of 9 on her way to 15 points and four steals, while Nelson dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Those 15 points gave Cavazos a new career-high.

Pace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive games.

Pace's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-12. As for Porter, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-16.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pace and Donna North will round out the year against one another at at 2:30 p.m. on December 28th. As for Porter, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harlingen South at 1:00 p.m. on December 31st.
