St. John Lutheran has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against HEART HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully St. John Lutheran focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
In what's become a running theme this season, St. John Lutheran gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Redeemer Christian 69-24 at home. St. John Lutheran's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
St. John Lutheran got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabel Freeman out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Freeman has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Sue Rice, who scored 17 points along with four steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, HEART HomeSchool's recent rough patch got a bit rougher back in December of 2023 after their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Christian Learning Academy on the road and fell 52-11. While losing is never fun, HEART HomeSchool can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 600th, while Christian Learning Academy is ranked 180th).
St. John Lutheran's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for HEART HomeSchool, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
St. John Lutheran strolled past HEART HomeSchool in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 34-16. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John Lutheran since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
