Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kirbyville). They put the hurt on the East Chambers Buccaneers with a sharp 21-1 win on Friday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Cooper Murphy made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Murphy was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Braxton Jacks was incredible, firing off three home runs and eight RBI while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Joe Telles also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
