Basketball Recap: Hopedale's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Hopedale was feeling good fresh off their 59-33 takedown of Sutton last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Hopedale Blue Raiders fell just short of the Nipmuc Regional Warriors by a score of 57-54 on Friday. The Blue Raiders have struggled against the Warriors recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hopedale still got an impressive performance from Patrick Madden, who posted 24 points. The contest was Madden's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keigan Murphy, who had 12 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Nipmuc Regional to victory, but perhaps none more so than James McKinney, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Logan DeMarzo, who put up 16 points.

Hopedale's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-2. As for Nipmuc Regional, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hopedale will square off against Douglas at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopedale is facing Douglas at the right time seeing as Douglas is stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Nipmuc Regional, they will face off against Blackstone-Millville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Nipmuc Regional is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.3 points per game this season.
