Bogue Chitto fell victim to Loyd Star and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 2-0. The Bobcats have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Jonna Claire Roberts spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. That's the fewest earned runs she has allowed since back in February.

On the hitting side, Bogue Chitto saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abigail Holder, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base. Holder is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
Meanwhile, Franklin County made easy work of South Pike on Thursday and carried off a 16-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Jhalayah Tillman was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Greyonne Queen was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Franklin County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Franklin County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. Bogue Chitto's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12.
Everything went Bogue Chitto's way against Franklin County in their previous matchup back in February, as Bogue Chitto made off with a 12-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bogue Chitto since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
