Softball Recap: Lonoke Triumphs

Lonoke took a nine-run defeat the last time they faced off against Vilonia, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lonoke Jackrabbits narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Vilonia Eagles 6-5. This was payback for the Jackrabbits, who suffered a 12-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Kendra Terry made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Holt, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Shaniya Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Lonoke's record is now 3-4-1. As for Vilonia, their record is now 2-2.

Coming up, Lonoke will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against South Side at 4:30 p.m. As for Vilonia, they will head out on the road to face off against Little Rock Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Vilonia's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
