The Calvert Hall Cardinals won the last time they faced the McDonogh Eagles, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Calvert Hall escaped with a win against the Eagles by the margin of a single free throw, 50-49. The win made it back-to-back wins for Calvert Hall.
Brendan Johnson was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Calvert Hall's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrin Bizzelle, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Calvert Hall has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season. As for McDonogh, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert Hall's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Greyhounds at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Gilman is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak. As for McDonogh, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Our Lady of Mount Carmel knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully the Eagles like a good challenge.
