The Gateway Eagles will take on the Lennard Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gateway has given up an average of 10.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monday just wasn't the day for Gateway's offense. They came up short against Southwest Florida Christian on Monday, falling 17-0. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Eagles' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, while Lennard put up plenty of runs last Thursday, the same can't be said for Morgan. The Longhorns put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.
Lennard got a massive performance out of Kennedy McClain, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI McClain has posted since back in March. Hannah Rooks was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Lennard hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan struck out seven times.
Lennard is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Gateway, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gateway hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Lennard struggles in that department as they've averaged .381. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gateway suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Lennard in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
