The Greenville Hornets will head out to square off against the Humphreys County Cowboys at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Greenville knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Humphreys County likes a good challenge.
While Greenville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Yazoo City 19-13 on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Caleigh Jones made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Jazmine Palmer looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Camargeona Rhodes was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while going 2-for-2. Rhodes is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Hope Ledlow, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Greenville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Humphreys County's offense. They lost 10-0 to Yazoo County on Thursday. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Greenville's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.8 runs. As for Humphreys County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Greenville might still be hurting after the 28-16 loss they got from Humphreys County in their previous meeting on Friday. Can Greenville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
