After a string of five wins, The Vincent Memorial Scots''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Holtville by a score of 27-25. Vincent Memorial was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Holtville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Vincent Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jacobo Elias. Despite the final result, he rushed for 115 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries, and also threw for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Elias' longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.
Vincent Memorial's loss dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Holtville, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Vincent Memorial will take on Calexico at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Holtville, they will head out on the road to face off against Calipatria at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Calipatria is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
