Aubrey Caudy made a splash while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Layla Geiger, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Reise Rogers, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Westfall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Piketon posted their closest win since April 13th on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Peebles, sneaking past 3-1.
Aubrey Heath was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Westfall's record now sits at 8-6. As for Piketon, their record is now 19-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Westfall hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Piketon struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Westfall might still be hurting after the 10-4 defeat they got from Piketon when the teams last played on April 10th. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
