The Poquoson Islanders will head out on the road to square off against the Nandua Warriors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poquoson is hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Poquoson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They snuck past Tabb with a 62-56 win. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Poquoson has managed all season.
Poquoson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dayne Galacgac, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Galacgac has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Khaleo Smith, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Nandua beat Holmes 52-47 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Nandua.
Poquoson's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7. As for Nandua, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Poquoson came up short against Nandua when the teams last played back in January of 2020, falling 63-57. Can Poquoson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
