Baseball Recap: Eugene Extends Winning Streak to Four

Eugene won against Harrisburg on Tuesday with eight runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Eagles came out on top against the Owensville Dutchmen by a score of 8-3. The win was familiar territory for the Eagles, who have now won four games in a row.

Chase Richard was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Eugene let Jeffrey Schulte and Drew Hart run wild. Schulte went 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles, while Hart went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Hart has posted since back in April. Garet Wood was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Eugene was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Owensville only posted a batting average of .182.

Eugene's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Owensville, they moved to 10-9 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Eugene will host Dixon at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Owensville, they will venture away from home to challenge Steelville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
