After losing to the Oxford Wildcats the last time they met, the Cedar Vale/Dexter Spartans decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Cedar Vale/Dexter came out on top against Oxford by a score of 50-41 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given Cedar Vale/Dexter's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 206th, while Oxford is ranked 91st).
Oxford's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cayden Carpenter, who scored 23 points. Carpenter continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordell Jordan, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Cedar Vale/Dexter has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Oxford, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Cedar Vale/Dexter will be playing in front of their home fans against Flinthills at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Flinthills is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Oxford, they will head out on the road to square off against Caldwell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
