The Garber Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Kremlin-Hillsdale Broncs at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Garber took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Oklahoma Bible, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wolverines narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Trojans 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolverines have posted since April 22, 2025.
Kacin Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aiden Johnson, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last six games. Another player making a difference was Cayden Ramsey, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous four contest, Kremlin-Hillsdale brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against Waynoka on Friday as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The result was nothing new for the Broncs, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.
Kremlin-Hillsdale got a massive performance out of Noah Espinoza, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The Broncs are 3-1 when Espinoza posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise. Denton West also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Kremlin-Hillsdale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win snapped Kremlin-Hillsdale's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. As for Garber, their record now sits at 5-14.
Garber got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Kremlin-Hillsdale by a conclusive 16-10 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
