Clopton has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the North Callaway Thunderbirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Clopton pushed their score all the way to 60 two weeks ago, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Winfield.
Meanwhile, North Callaway's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Russellville, falling 79-47. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat North Callaway has suffered since December 5, 2023.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sam Pezold, who scored 18 points along with five steals. Erik Blair was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Clopton now has a losing record at 3-4. As for North Callaway, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Clopton beat North Callaway 61-52 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was North Callaway's Matthew Weber, who scored 24 points.
