The Corvallis Spartans will face off against the Gresham Gophers at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Corvallis has given up an average of 11 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Corvallis' tournament run continued when they took on Grant on Monday. Corvallis lost 16-6 to Grant. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Parker Doerr was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Richardson, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Even though they lost, Corvallis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Gresham got the win against Ida B. Wells on Monday by a conclusive 18-1.
Despina Seufalemua was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Seufalemua was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Maddy Sagapolutele was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Reese Gardenhire was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Corvallis' loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Gresham, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Everything went Corvallis' way against Gresham in their previous meeting back in March of 2018, as Corvallis made off with a 12-1 win. Does Corvallis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gresham turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
