The West Lafayette Red Devils pushed their score all the way to 60 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-60 to Rensselaer Central. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (56), West Lafayette still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, West Lafayette still got an impressive performance from Adrianne Tolen, who scored 30 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Those 30 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Molly Andrew, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Rensselaer Central got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kamri Rowland out in front who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds. Rowland has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Taylor Van meter was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for West Lafayette and nudges their season record down to 11-8. As for Rensselaer Central, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 18-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Lafayette will take on Lafayette Jefferson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rensselaer Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Newton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully North Newton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Tuesday.
