Glenbard South hasn't had much luck against South Elgin recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Raiders will head out on the road to challenge the Storm at 4:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Glenbard South got the win against Ridgewood by a conclusive 10-2. The win continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won four in a row.

Lucas Wilder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. Those 11 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nicky Louapre, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Tim Ewald was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
West Aurora typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday South Elgin proved too difficult a challenge. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Blackhawks. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won eight matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Zacharia Barkho tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Justin Pold and Connor Lund did most of the damage at the plate: Pold went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Lund went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. South Elgin is undefeated when Pold posts two or more runs, but 6-9 otherwise.
South Elgin pushed their record up to 11-9 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Glenbard South, their record now sits at 11-12.
Glenbard South came out on top in a nail-biter against South Elgin in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 7-5. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
