Isabella Sanchez made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had over her last three games. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in five of her six plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Montwood got a massive performance out of Jaeda Quinones, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits Quinones has posted since back in March of 2025. Celeste Romo was another key player, going 5-for-6 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI.
Montwood always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .569. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanks only posted an OBP of .395.
Meanwhile, Canutillo came into Tuesday's contest having lost 15 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against San Elizario on Tuesday as they made off with a 17-2 victory. Canutillo's offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last four games.
Gio Navarro was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Navarro was also big at the plate, earning one run and three stolen bases. Those stolen bases were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Izzy Salazar was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Abby Lujan, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.
Canutillo's win bumped their record up to 4-17. As for Montwood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11-1.
Canutillo's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Montwood has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.5 hits per game. It's a different story for Canutillo, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Montwood's sizable advantage in that area, the Eagles will need to find a way to close that gap.
