Basketball Game Preview: Elite Prep Academy Eagles vs. Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks

The Elite Prep Academy Eagles will take on the Cornerstone Charter Academy Ducks at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Elite Prep Academy will bounce into Thursday's match after beating Orangewood Christian, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Elite Prep Academy walked away with a 65-58 victory over Orangewood Christian on Tuesday.

Kirk Duhaney was a one-man wrecking crew for Elite Prep Academy as he went 10 for 17 on his way to 25 points and five rebounds. Duhaney is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. D'Angelo Henry was another key player, putting up 11 points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Charter Academy hadn't done well against Freedom recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Cornerstone Charter Academy strolled past Freedom with points to spare, taking the game 73-54. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ducks.

Elite Prep Academy better focus on containing Devan Domadia and Derick Augustin as the pair were huge in Cornerstone Charter Academy's win. Domadia went 7 of 12 on his way to 28 points along with eight assists and seven steals, while Augustin dropped a double-double on 28 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Augustin a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Wood, who posted nine points and six assists.

Elite Prep Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.8 points per game. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Things could have been worse for Elite Prep Academy, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-39 loss to Cornerstone Charter Academy in their previous meeting back in December of 2023.
