The Ashley Screaming Eagle will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Holly Springs Golden Hawks at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Ashley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up six last Friday.
Last Friday, Ashley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 49-44 to Laney. While losing is never fun, Ashley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 310th, while Laney is ranked 41st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Coen Locklear, who scored 15 points. Quinn Bentley was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Meanwhile, Holly Springs waltzed into their matchup Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 54-51 win from a begrudging Golden Hawkssquad.
Ashley bumped their record down to 2-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Holly Springs, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
Ashley was taken down by Holly Springs 74-43 in their previous meeting back in December of 2021. Will Ashley have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
