Mohave Accelerated had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-6 to make it seven. They came up short against the Kingman Academy Tigers, falling 22-7. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 10, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Mohave Accelerated saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Michael Kennedy, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another was Martin Abundiz, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one run.
As for Kingman Academy, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Kingman Academy's side, Baylor Short made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Short has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with five RBI and one run. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Pax McFadyen and Johnny Romero did most of the damage at the plate: McFadyen went 4-for-5 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI, while Romero went 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Romero a new career-high. Aiden Wildebaur was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and two RBI.
Coming up, Mohave Accelerated will challenge Williams at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kingman Academy, they will square off against Trivium Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season.
