The Solorio Sun Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Chicago Academy Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Solorio fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against ACERO Garcia by a score of 23-10 on Wednesday.
Solorio's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Danielle Ridgner, who scored eight points, and Melanie Macedo, who scored nine points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ridgner has scored at least a third of Solorio's points.
Meanwhile, Chicago Academy put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Schurz 58-26 at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Chicago Academy has posted since December 12, 2023.
Lizbeth Sanchez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Destiny Rodriguez, who scored six points along with nine steals.
Solorio's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Chicago Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
Solorio took their win against Chicago Academy in their previous meeting back in January of 2019 by a conclusive 49-24. Does Solorio have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chicago Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
