After a string of three wins, the Angleton Christian Warriors's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Texas Christian 48-43. Angleton Christian was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Joel Lovell, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds. Lovell hasn't dropped below 16 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Graham Rosa, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Texas Christian got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jean Hirwa out in front who scored 18 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Brecken Pelzel was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals and two blocks.
Angleton Christian's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6. As for Texas Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Angleton Christian will face off against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Texas (School of the Woods is ranked 1448th, while the Warriors are ranked 1443rd). As for Texas Christian, they and the Rams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 22nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
