Baseball Recap: Odyssey Institute Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Seton Catholic, Odyssey Institute was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Highland Prep Honey Badgers by a score of 13-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). With that win, the Minotaur brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Justin Bennett was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Odyssey Institute: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-6-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Odyssey Institute got a massive performance out of Jonathan Gonzales, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nick DePaz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Odyssey Institute always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory got Odyssey Institute back to even at 6-6-1. As for Highland Prep, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.
