The Discovery Spartans will head out to take on the Mulberry Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Discovery will be strutting in after a victory while Mulberry will be coming in after a defeat.
Discovery was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Haines City on Tuesday. Discovery was the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Haines City. The contest marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season so far.

Aaron Chevere and Evan Devore made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Chevere pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Devore pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Chevere scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Devore scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Discovery is 2-1 when Devore posts two or more stolen bases, but 1-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, Discovery let Payton Ellory and Hunter Benjamin run wild. Ellory scored three runs and stole Six bases. while getting on base in both of his plate appearances, while Benjamin scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Benjamin also hit a triple, marking his first of the season. Edrick Rivera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-2.
Discovery always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Mulberry came up short against Lake Gibson on Tuesday and fell 5-1. The game marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Mulberry got a good showing from Coby Anker, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave Anker a new career-high in strikeouts (four).
At the plate, Nic Partridge was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
Mulberry's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Discovery, they moved to 3-6 with that victory, which also ended their six-game losing streak.
