It was a good run, but the Midfield Patriots unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wenonah. Midfield has struggled against Wenonah recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Midfield lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamiya Webb. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 24 points and 21 rebounds. Webb is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Lauren Stokes was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 3 steals.
Even though they lost, Midfield were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wenonah only pulled down six.
Wenonah was led to victory by Jakerria Ringstaff and Samarian Franklin. Ringstaff dropped a double-double on 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Franklin dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Franklin's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makyla Williams, who scored 7 points.
Midfield's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Wenonah, their victory bumped their record up to 9-4.
Midfield will be playing in front of their home fans against Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wenonah, they will head out on the road to face off against Center Point at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Center Point will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Wenonah is ranked 62nd).
