The Weddington Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 62-36 margin over Parkwood. The win was just what Weddington needed coming off of a 63-37 loss in their prior contest.
Weddington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ella Bergman out in front who scored 12 points along with six rebounds. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for her. Caroline Clark was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Peyton Collins and Madison Owen certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Collins scored 17 points along with six rebounds, while Owen scored eight points. The match was Collins' sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Weddington's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Parkwood, they have fallen quite a ways from their 22-6 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Weddington will head out on the road to face off against Cox Mill at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cox Mill focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 last Friday. Parkwood will be home for the holidays to greet Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Union Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven games -- so hopefully Parkwood likes a good challenge.
