Softball Recap: Jackson Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Jackson came tearing into Tuesday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the W.S. Neal Eagles as they made off with a 19-1 win. Considering the Aggies have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zoey Rooks was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Rooks was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in home runs.

In other batting news, Gabby Howard was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, three doubles, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Autumn Rocker was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI.

Jackson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 13 consecutive contests.

Jackson's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for W.S. Neal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson will take on Escambia County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jackson's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Escambia County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for W.S. Neal, they will face off against Flomaton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
