Londonderry has gone 7-1 against Merrimack recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Lancers will host the Tomahawks at 4:00 p.m. Londonderry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Londonderry's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Timberlane with a sharp 11-0 win. The Lancers haven't had any issues with the Owls recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Ryan Perry looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk).
At the plate, Zach Mantegari was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Brett Mckinnon was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Merrimack is still winless after their matchup against Winnacunnet on Monday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Warriors.
Merrimack saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Sousa, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Sousa has brought in this season.
Merrimack's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Londonderry, their win bumped their record up to 6-1-1.
Merrimack's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Londonderry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .452. It's a different story for Merrimack, though, as they've only averaged .279. Will they be able to contain Londonderry's hitters?
Londonderry came out on top in a nail-biter against Merrimack when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tomahawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
