Basketball Recap: Goleman Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

Goleman won the last time they faced Mourning, and Franki Sosa did his part to make sure it happened again. The Goleman Gators came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mourning Sharks on Saturday, sneaking past 74-71 thanks in part to Sosa, who went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points in addition to eight boards and five steals. The contest was his seventh in a row with at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylon Hall, who posted 11 points. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played.

Mourning lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Alan Gomez, who went 11 of 16 on his way to 24 points. Another player making a difference was Pablo Rivas, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven steals and six assists.

Goleman is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.6 points per game. As for Mourning, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Goleman will host Ransom Everglades at 7:30 p.m. on January 6, 2025. The timing is sure in Goleman's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Ransom Everglades has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road. As for Mourning, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Coral Park at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
