Softball Recap: Valley View Makes It Six in a Row at Home

Valley View had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Redlands on Saturday. The Valley View Eagles blew past the Redlands Terriers 15-0. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Terriers: they've now won four in a row.

Ato Laumatia made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Laumatia was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Giselle Morales looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Valley View got a massive performance out of Alyssa Torres, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Jacqueline Divine, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Valley View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redlands only posted an OBP of .000.

Valley View's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Redlands, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Valley View wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 17-1 victory against Chaparral on the 4th. As for Redlands, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 loss against Hemet on the 4th.
