Even though the Wheaton Bulldogs have not done well against the Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Wheaton really took it to Jefferson Independent Day for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-17 win on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Wheaton has managed all season.
Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: Kohl Thurman scored eight points along with five rebounds. Thurman is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played.
Wheaton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Jefferson Independent Day, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
