Volleyball Recap: Rouse Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Rouse, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Stony Point Tigers on Tuesday. This was payback for the Raiders, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

While Rouse might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Stony Point scored at least 22 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-22, 23-25, 27-25.

Among those leading the charge was Emily Espinosa, who had 16 digs. Those 16 digs gave her a new career-high. Avery Ralston also deserves some recognition as she served her first aces of the season.

Rouse was lethal from the service line and finished the game with ten aces. They are a perfect 4-0 when they serve at least ten aces.

When it comes to explaining why Stony Point lost, don't look at Jullia Howser. Despite the final result, she had 11 digs and two aces.

Rouse's record now sits at 17-14. As for Stony Point, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-16 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Rouse and Liberty Hill will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Raiders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Stony Point, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Manor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
