After a string of three wins, Winston Salem Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 52-44 to the Combine Academy Global Goats. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Lions came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Goats are ranked 219th).

Combine Academy Global was led to victory by Sterling Bohn and Xavier Eddington. Bohn went 5 for 7 on his way to 10 points and seven rebounds, while Eddington dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Eddington has become a key player for Combine Academy Global: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least ten rebounds, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Simbarashe Bete, who posted six points and five rebounds.

Winston Salem Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Combine Academy Global, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.

Winston Salem Christian will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Charlotte Elite Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for Combine Academy Global, they will head out to face off against Greater Vision Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Combine Academy Global is facing Greater Vision Academy at the right time seeing as Greater Vision Academy is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
