The New Prairie Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 43-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bremen. New Prairie lost against Bremen in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-32 score last time.
New Prairie lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Brody Wiginton, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Trenton Klute, who scored eight points.
Bremen's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Devine, who scored 20 points. Devine has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrus Graverson, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
New Prairie has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for Bremen, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Prairie will square off against South Bend St. Joseph at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Bend St. Joseph presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than New Prairie in Indiana (South Bend St. Joseph is ranked 96th, while New Prairie is ranked 384th). As for Bremen, they will head out on the road to challenge LaVille at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. LaVille is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.2 points per game.
