NOCONA, Texas - A 23-point lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter didn't slow down
Nocona (Texas) as it put 12 more points on the scoreboard to secure its victory over City View (Wichita Falls, Texas) 42-9.
The Nocona were up 23-0 at the half after taking the lead on a
Tate Fenoglio touchdown run in the first quarter.
Both teams scored seven points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 23 entering the fourth.
Fenoglio and
John Jennings ran for a bunch of touchdowns for the Mustangs. Fenoglio scored two touchdowns on the ground and Jennings added two as well.
City View's lone touchdown came on a 70-yard kick return in the third quarter.
Nocona went into the matchup giving up only 12.5 points per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 49-35 win for NHS.
Nocona (7-0) will play a 2A-2 Region II District 5 game against Holliday next week, while City View (3-4) will take on Henrietta also in a 2A-2 Region II District 5 game.
