The Maplewood Rockets's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They fell just short of Mathews by a score of 66-64. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Loss or not, Maplewood got some senior leadership from Andrew Barnett and Alex Donaldson. Barnett dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Donaldson. dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Barnett has scored all season.
Maplewood bumped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Mathews, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.
Maplewood the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Harding at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Harding knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine games -- so hopefully Maplewood likes a good challenge. As for Mathews, they will head out on the road to face off against Bristol at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bristol is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
