The Terry Rangers will head out on the road to face off against the Fort Bend Kempner Cougars at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Terry and nine for Fort Bend Kempner dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Terry was the victim of a tough 33-7 defeat at the hands of Magnolia West. While losing is never fun, Terry can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 661st, while Magnolia West is ranked 258th).
Meanwhile, Fort Bend Kempner fell victim to Fulshear's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Chargers 66-0. Fort Bend Kempner was already down big by the end of the third quarter and they stayed that way after failing to score in the fourth.
Terry's defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-0 Fulshear and 7-2 Magnolia (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.4% over those games). As for Fort Bend Kempner, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
Terry lost to Fort Bend Kempner on the road by a decisive 19-0 margin when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Terry, Corban Evers (who threw for 148 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
