The Colorado Springs Christian Lions can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They came out on top against Woodland Park by a score of 51-40. The victory was just what Colorado Springs Christian needed coming off of a 82-29 defeat in their prior match.
Leading Colorado Springs Christian to victory were Miguel Cota-cordova and Jace Velasquez. Cota-cordova scored 17 points along with eight rebounds, while Velasquez scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists. That's the first time this season that Velasquez pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikey Orawiec, who scored five points along with three steals and two blocks.
Colorado Springs Christian's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Woodland Park, they bumped their record down to 2-9 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Colorado Springs Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Forge Christian at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Forge Christian is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
