The Crowley County Chargers will head out on the road to challenge the Ellicott Thunderhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Crowley County entered their tilt with Las Animas with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Crowley County walked away with a 34-26 victory over Las Animas on Friday.
Crowley County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nakayla Aguilar led the charge by scoring 15 points along with three steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Aguilar scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Rusher, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Ellicott had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They managed a 27-23 win over Rye.
Crowley County's victory bumped their record up to 11-6. As for Ellicott, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Crowley County took a serious blow against Ellicott in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 72-22. Can Crowley County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
