The Jefferson Jeff Saint are taking a road trip to take on the Lyons Lions at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Jefferson is looking for their season's first victory.
Jefferson managed to slip by Englewood the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Jeff Saint lost 25-6 to the Pirates on Tuesday.
Jefferson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Valduz, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those hits were Valduz's first of the season.
Lyons never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against SkyView Academy on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Hawks. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now won five in a row.
Jake LaCrosse made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double. Lyons is 6-1 when LaCrosse posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Calvin Russell, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Henry Lynch, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Lyons, their record now sits at 8-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Jefferson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lyons struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Jefferson suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Lyons when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Jeff Saint avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
