Miami Valley Christian Academy is 9-0-1 against Lockland since January of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. Last Wednesday, Miami Valley Christian Academy made easy work of North College Hill and carried off a 53-28 victory. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Lucy Rosen was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Miami Valley Christian Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Farmer, who posted 13 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals.
Miami Valley Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Lockland played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 52-21 loss at the hands of Seven Hills. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.
Miami Valley Christian Academy will have to contain Jaylah Smith as she made an impact in Lockland's last game. She almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Smith is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 16 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Princes Webster, who scored five points and six steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Lockland and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Miami Valley Christian Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Miami Valley Christian Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Lockland struggles in that department as they've been averaging 38.9 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
