Canyon del Oro has struggled against Pueblo recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Canyon del Oro got a solid performance out of Halie Fuller, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Fuller has scored all season. Madisen Fleury was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals and two blocks.
In what's become a running theme this season, Salpointe Catholic gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 73-24 win over Nogales on the road. Given Salpointe Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Nogales is ranked 98th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sidney Anderson and Taliyah Henderson were among the main playmakers for Salpointe Catholic as the former scored 13 points along with six assists and three steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hannah Williams, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
Canyon del Oro dropped their record down to 7-16 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Salpointe Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.
Canyon del Oro was taken down by Salpointe Catholic 68-11 when the teams last played on January 10th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Canyon del Oro was down 49-2.
