Perry Central pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-57 to St. Patrick. While losing is never fun, Perry Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while St. Patrick is ranked 93rd).
Meanwhile, West Marion ended up a good deal behind St. Patrick on Friday and lost 72-54. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West Marion in their matchups with St. Patrick: they've now lost four in a row.
Perry Central's loss dropped their record down to 10-9. As for West Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-15.
Perry Central took their win against West Marion in their previous meeting on January 5th by a conclusive 64-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for Perry Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
