The Latta Vikings lost against the Aynor Blue Jackets last Thursday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Latta took a 39-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aynor.
When it comes to explaining why Latta lost, one person who can't be blamed is Shawniza Bethea. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Aynor's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Lainey Squires, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds and seven assists. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Squires. Another player making a difference was Terianna Richardson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five blocks.
Latta's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Aynor, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Latta will head out on the road to face off against Mullins at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mullins is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Aynor will take on Lake View in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Friday at. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Lake View: 24.2, Aynor: 27.3) so any points scored will be well earned.
