Basketball Recap: Monrovia Drops Highest Score of Season Against Marshall

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monrovia). They really took it to the Marshall Eagles for the full four quarters, racking up an 88-16 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Kevin Sayles was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 12 on his way to 23 points and five steals. Sayles is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Cardenas, who posted ten points along with five boards and five steals.

Monrovia was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Monrovia's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Marshall, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Monrovia won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against St. Monica Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Monica Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Monrovia surely won't give up without a fight. Marshall will take on Mountain View in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Marshall is facing Mountain View at the right time seeing as Mountain View is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
