After seven games on the road, Gillespie is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Carlinville Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Gillespie ended up a good deal behind Lincolnwood and lost 59-41. Gillespie has struggled against Lincolnwood recently, as their game last Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Carlinville fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They snuck past Pawnee with a 44-39 victory on Tuesday. That 44-39 margin sets a new team best for Carlinville this season.
Carlinville found their leader in underclassman Sawyer Smith, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Tate Duckels was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Gillespie bumped their record down to 3-7 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Carlinville, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
Gillespie took their victory against Carlinville in their previous matchup back in January by a conclusive 67-46. Does Gillespie have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carlinville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
