Basketball Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Takes a Loss

Academy for Academic Excellence lost against Silver Valley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Academy for Academic Excellence Knights took a blow against the Silver Valley Trojans, falling 72-31. The Knights were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-15.

Leading Silver Valley to victory were Jasean Phillips and Javion Taylor. Phillips went 11 for 16 on his way to 24 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Taylor went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The contest was Phillips' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jason Taylor, who posted four points in addition to five assists and four steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Academy for Academic Excellence and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Silver Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Academy for Academic Excellence has already played their next game (against Riverside Prep), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Silver Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Bear at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Big Bear sitting on eight straight wins and Silver Valley on four.
